William Peters Jr. Killed in Bedford, VA, Dump Truck Accident

Bedford, VA -- January 24, 2017, William John Peters Jr. was killed due to an accident in which his pickup and a dump truck collided.

According to the Virginia State Police, the fatal collision occurred around 11:50 a.m. along US Highway 460.

Preliminary reports indicate that 62-year-old Peters was driving an older model Ford pickup eastbound on the highway. In front of him was a dump truck hauling gravel eastbound as well. The dump truck slowed down in order to make a turn. For reasons unclear, the Ford pickup did not stop in time, and it collided into the back of the dump truck.

Police say that Peters was transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital where eventually succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Authorities have reported any charges or citations at this time. They continue to investigate the accident.
