Sofia Cardenas Killed in Burleson, TX, 4-car Accident on I-35W

Burleson, TX -- January 24, 2017, Sofia Cardenas suffered fatal injuries due to an accident in which multiple vehicles collided on I-35W.

According to preliminary reports released by Burleson authorities, the collision took place around 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of I-35W and Renfro Street.

Police indicated that in the northbound lanes of I-35W, a Ford SUV somehow crashed into the back of a Honda sedan. This collision caused the Honda to collide with a Chevy pickup, which in turn crashed into a Chevy SUV.

As a result of the multi-vehicle collision, 4-year-old Cardenas suffered fatal injuries. She was transported to Cook Children's Hospital for treatment, but she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital, though their condition was not specified.

At this time, authorities have not reported any citations or charges relating to the accident. Their investigations are ongoing.
