Rose Almaguer Castro Dies in Houston, TX, Hit-and-run Accident

Houston, TX -- December 16, 2016, Rose Almaguer Castro was killed after an accident in which she and a friend were hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The Houston Police Department is still investigating the fatal accident which occurred at around 2:00 a.m. that Friday.

According to reports, 45-year-old Castro and a friend were walking along Highway 249 at the intersection of Fallbrook Road. As they crossed highway lanes, a vehicle drove through the intersection, colliding into both pedestrians. The vehicle then fled the accident.

Castro suffered fatal injuries when a second vehicle did not see her in time after the initial crash and hit her again. That driver stopped at the scene and called for emergency services.

EMS came to the scene where they transported the second pedestrian to a hospital with serious injuries. Castro was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released details on the suspect driver at this time. Their investigations continue.
