Woman Injured in Austin, TX, Office Depot Roof Collapse Accident

Austin, TX -- January 21, 2017, a woman sustained serious injuries due to an accident in which a portion of an Office Depot ceiling collapsed on her.

The store at which the accident occurred is located at the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and West Oltorf Street. Emergency services received the call at around 3:00 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that the woman, a customer, was near the store's entrance at the time. For reasons unclear, a chunk of the ceiling, approximately 20 feet by 12 feet, fell from the ceiling. The woman could not move in time, and she was hit by the falling debris.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, and they transported the woman to St. David's South Austin Medical Center. Her condition was said to be serious but stable.

At this time, authorities continue to investigate the accident. No further information has been released.
