Man Injured in Jones County, MS, 18-wheeler Accident on US 84

Jones County, MS -- January 11, 2017, one person was injured following an accident where an 18-wheeler and a pickup crashed on US Highway 84.

According to the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, an initial accident had occurred around 9:20 p.m. along US 84. As a result, traffic in the area was blocked off for emergency crews.

About a mile from this scene, an 18-wheeler somehow collided into a pickup, sending the pickup off-road. This caused the pickup to overturn in the median, sustained severe damage.

EMS came to the scene and found the driver of the pickup, a 19-year-old man, seriously injured. They transported him to South Central regional Medical Center. The 18-wheeler driver was not injured.

Authorities did not specify the cause of the accident. They did not report any charges or citations following the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.
