Truck Driver Injured in Shreveport, LA Rollover Accident on I-220

Shreveport, LA -- January 19, 2017, a truck driver sustained injuries resulting from an accident in which his truck rolled over off of I-220.

According to Shreveport Police authorities, the accident occurred at the North Market Street ramp of I-220 at around 4:30 a.m.

Their preliminary investigations reveal that an 18-wheeler was traveling down I-220 when it somehow lost control and swerved off the roadway. Upon doing so, it tipped over and flipped onto its side. Due to this, the truck spilled what was said to be sulfuric acid on the roadway.

Emergency rescue and hazmat teams rushed to the scene. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. His injuries were said to be non-life-threatening. Clean up crews shut down the roadway to contain and remove the hazardous materials from the road.

At this time, no particular cause of the accident has been determined. Police continue their investigations.
