1 Killed in Houston, TX, 18-wheeler Rear-end Accident on I-10

Houston, TX -- January 20, 2017, a driver was fatally injured in , as the result of an accident where their vehicle rear-ended an 18-wheeler on I-10.

Houston emergency teams were called to the accident scene at around 1:30 a.m. It took place near the intersection of I-10 and Federal Road.

According to preliminary reports, a white Scion passenger car with one occupant was driving down I-10. Witnesses claim the vehicle was traveling at high speeds. For reasons that are unclear, it could not stop in time when approaching an 18-wheeler. As a result, the car crashed into the back of the trailer.

The vehicle sustained severe damage, and the driver was fatally injured. That person was killed in the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

At this time, authorities have not indicated any particular factors contributing to the crash. Their investigations are ongoing.
