Charles Michael Vestal Killed in Train Accident in Ames, IA

Ames, IA -- A pedestrian vs. train incident claimed the life of 27-year-old Charles Michael Vestal in the area of Ames, IA Friday, January 13, 2017.

Sources say the incident occurred at a track near North Dakota Avenue. It appears the man was struck around 200 yards west of the railroad crossing. The details of the incident are sparse, but officials are examining the incident at this time. The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes. The official cause of death had yet to be determined at the time of the report.
