Man Injured in Magnolia, TX, E-Cigarette Explosion Accident
Magnolia, TX -- January 17, 2017, a man suffered serious injuries following an accident in which his e-cigarette's battery exploded near his face.
Officials from the Montgomery County Fire Department report that the incident occurred while the 28-year-old man was using the device. Officials say that the lithium battery--reportedly after market--exploded as the man had it near his face.
The explosion caused debris to strike his face in several places. Some of his injuries included missing teeth, a broken jaw, and severe lacerations.
The man was taken to Houston Medical Center for his injuries. He had to undergo numerous surgeries due to the severity of his wounds.
At this time, officials have not released any more details about the accident. They say the incident remains under investigation.
