Child, 4 Others Hurt in East Brunswick, NJ, School Bus Accident
East Brunswick, NJ -- January 16, 2017, a child and four others were injured following an accident where a school bus and a city transit bus collided.
East Brunswick authorities indicated that the accident occurred at around 9:00 a.m. near the intersection of Route 18 and Eggers Street.
Initial reports indicate that a Kensington Company school bus was traveling down Route 18 with an unspecified number of passengers. In front of it, a NJ Transit bus was stopped to pick up passengers. The school bus somehow failed to stop in time, crashing into the back of the city bus.
As a result of the collision, one child on the school bus suffered a broken leg and several cuts. Four people on-board the city bus were also injured in the crash. They were all taken to hospitals for treatment.
Authorities did not indicate what factors were involved in the accident. Their investigations are ongoing.
