Two Killed in Train Accident in Edgemont, SD

Edgemont, SD -- Two men were killed after being hit by a train in the area of Edgemont, SD just south of the Black Hills Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

It appears the two men were struck in a rail yard about 10:15 a.m.

The details of the incident are sparse, but officials claim the the deceased victims were employees of BNSF. Representatives with the NTSB say the collision happened on the tracks under U.S. Highway 18. The victim's identities remain unknown at this time. The exact cause of the incident had yet to be determined.

Officials are investigating the incident at this time and hope to learn more as it concludes.

The preliminary report provided no further information at the time of its release.
