Pedestrian Dies in Houston, TX, Hit-and-run Accident on Beltway 8

Houston, TX -- January 17, 2017, a man was killed as the result of an accident where he was struck by a vehicle on Beltway 8 that fled the scene.

The Houston Police Department reported on the fatal accident which occurred just before midnight at the intersection of Westview Drive and Beltway 8 West.

According to their investigations, a man, whose identity hasn't been released, attempted to cross highway lanes on foot. As he did so, a vehicle, which police have described as possibly being a gold Toyota Camry, drove by and hit the pedestrian. The man was left lying on the roadway, and the driver fled the scene.

Emergency services arrived shortly after the accident, and they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

At this time, authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from a witness's dash cam. They have not released any additional details regarding the accident.
