Man Hurt in Industrial Accident at Highway 87 and FM 253 in Newton County, TX

Newton County, TX -- An industrial incident in Newton County, TX near Highway 87 and FM 253 left an unidentified worker with injuries Monday, January 16, 2017.

It looks like the injured victim was working as a field mechanic about 2:30 p.m. when the incident happened. Officials claim the man was in the process of bleeding a valve when the valve fell. It apparently released pressure, cutting the man's throat. The victim was transported by air to a hospital in Beaumont, TX with injuries described as severe. His identity and condition had yet to be disclosed.

Authorities are currently conducting the investigation and hope to learn more as it concludes.
