Jirell Sockwell Killed in Hempstead County, AR, Accident

Hempstead County, AR -- January 14, 2017, Jirell Sockwell was killed due to a single-car accident where his vehicle crashed off the highway.

According to the Arkansas State Police the accident occurred just before 4:00 p.m. along Arkansas State Highway 332.

The preliminary accident report indicates that 31-year-old Sockwell of Prescott was driving a Buick LaCrosse eastbound on the highway. As he took a curve in the road, the vehicle somehow lost control and veered off the side of the road.

Off-road, the vehicle traveled through the grassy area and collided with a tree. The crashed caused the Buick to overturn.

Sockwell suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Emergency services pronounced his deceased at the scene.

Police say investigations are ongoing. No further information has been released.
