Man Injured in Austin, TX, Falling Accident at Pennybacker Bridge
Austin, TX -- January 16, 2017, a man was injured following an accident in which he somehow fell off of a cliff near the Pennybacker Bridge.
Austin Fire and Medical emergency crews rushed to the scene of the accident at around 3:30 a.m. The incident occurred just off the TX-360 Pennybacker Bridge.
According to preliminary investigations, the man was walking around the area surrounding the bridge. For reasons that are not clear, the man lost his footing on a cliff and fell nearly 50 feet to the ground below. As a result, he suffered moderate injuries.
EMS rushed to the scene to render aid. They called for Star Flight, but weather conditions caused them to cancel. They extracted the man using a rope system. Reports say the man was stable following the accident, and he apparently refused to go to a hospital.
Authorities have not released any additional information regarding the accident.
