One Killed, One Hurt in Truck Accident at I-229 & Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD

Sioux Falls, SD -- A two-vehicle collision between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer left an unidentified man dead and an unidentified woman with injuries in Sioux Falls, SD Sunday, January 15, 2017.

Sources say the tractor-trailer, for reasons unknown, veered out of control and broke through an overpass guard rail. The truck fell below to Minnesota Avenue, landing atop a passenger car. The driver of the semi, an unidentified 43-year-old man, was killed at the scene of the incident. The unidentified female driver of the cars was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Officials are currently investigating the incident and hope to learn more as the investigation unfolds.

The incident left a portion of the area closed to traffic for several hours.

The preliminary media report provided no further information at the time of its release.
