Kyle Gerber Killed in Accident in East Hempfield Township, PA

East Hempfield Township, PA -- A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Kyle Gerber in the area of East Hempfield Township, PA Sunday, January 8, 2017.

The preliminary investigation shows the Dodge Avenger containing the victim was headed west when it collided with a guard rail. The vehicle then careened over the westbound lanes, crashing into the median.

Police say they arrived on Route 30 about 1:25 a.m. to find Mr. Gerber killed at the scene.

A large portion of the highway was closed for several hours following the deadly incident.

Officials are currently conducting the investigation and hope to establish a cause as it concludes.

The press release provided no further information regarding the incident at the time of its release.
