One Injured in Allen, TX, Wrong-Way Accident on US 75

Allen, TX -- December 23, 2016, at least one person was injured following an accident caused by a wrong-way driver on US 75.

According to the Allen Police Department, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of US 75 near the Bethany Drive intersection. It occurred at about 4:00 a.m.

Early reports have stated that an SUV somehow managed to get onto northbound US 75 while traveling southbound. Shortly afterward, the SUV crossed paths with an oncoming semi-truck, and the two vehicles collided head-on. This caused the semi to tip over onto its side, spilling diesel fuel, and the SUV began to catch on fire.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and they were able to extricate both drivers and contain the fire. At least one of the drivers was transported to a local hospital. Their condition was not specified.

Authorities did not release any additional details concerning the accident. It is unclear why the SUV drove the wrong way.
