East Brandywine Twp., PA -- A single-vehicle incident claimed the life of 30-year-old Kathryn M. Brown and left an unidentified 9-year-old girl with injuries.

Sources say a vehicle containing the two victims was traveling along Little Washington Road about 7:45 a.m. when the incident took place. The report claims the vehicle lost control, veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Mrs. Brown was taken to a nearby hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries. The child occupant of the car, a 9-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Authorities say the poor road conditions may have contributed to the deadly crash.

The official investigation is currently underway.
