Melissa Swenson Killed in Bossier City, LA, Rollover Accident

Bossier City, LA -- January 7, 2017, Melissa Swenson was killed following an accident in which her SUV rolled over off of the highway.

Authorities indicated that the fatal crash took place along Texas Street near the intersection of Cavalier Drive. It happened around 5:00 p.m.

According to preliminary investigations, 38-year-old Swenson was traveling eastbound on Texas Street at the time. For reasons that aren't clear, her vehicle lost control and swerved across westbound traffic lanes. The SUV then collided with the roadside guardrail and flipped over.

Due to the severity of the crash, Swenson suffered critical injuries. Emergency responders rushed her to University Health in Shreveport for treatment. Reports say she died several hours later.

At this time, it is unclear what caused her vehicle to lose control. Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
