Dustin Smithurst Killed in Accident in Pittsfield, ME

Pittsfield, ME -- An incident involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of 27-year-old Dustin Smithurst in Pittsfield, ME.

Sources with law enforcement say the vehicle containing Mr. Smithurst was northbound on I-95 about 5:45 p.m. when the incident took place. The report claims Mr. Smithurst's vehicle was left disabled after veering off the roadway, colliding with a group of trees. Mr. Smithurst was allegedly outside his vehicle, when a passing semi-truck crashed into him.

Mr. Smithurst was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The report made no mention of other injuries in the incident.

There was no word if charges related to crash were impending.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
