Richard Perry Turner Jr. Killed in Accidental House Fire in Greer, SC

Greer, SC -- A house fire in the area of Greer, SC claimed the life of 89-year-old Richard Perry Turner Jr. Monday, January 9, 2017.

The incident occurred on Pine Street about 12:30 a.m.

Sources say they believe the fire started in the den, and that it could have been caused by a gas log fireplace. The report claims the gas was still on in the home at the time emergency crews arrived. Officials say they found the deceased victim in the area of the bathroom. His official cause of death had yet to be determined.

The official investigation is currently underway.

The press release provided no further information regarding the deadly incident.
