Alonzo Barrientos Garza Killed in San Benito, TX, Accident
San Benito, TX -- December 9, 2016, Alonzo Barrientos Garza was killed following an accident in which his vehicle was hit by an SUV.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of Sam Houston Boulevard and Bean Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that 54-year-old Garza was driving a Chevy Malibu down Sam Houston when an oncoming Ford Explorer lost control and entered its path. This resulted in a near head-on collision between the two vehicles.
Garza suffered critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He eventually died there. The condition of the other driver was not specified, though that person was also taken to a hospital.
Authorities did not say what caused the SUV to lose control. No charges or citations have been reported at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
