Students Injured in Orange, TX, School Van Accident on I-10

Orange, TX -- January 7, 2017, several students were injured as the result of an accident in which a school van was involved in an accident on I-10.

According to Orange County officials, the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. An Orange-Cove ISD transport van was attempting to enter I-10 lanes via the TX-62 on-ramp.

Upon entering the highway ramp, the van drove over ice that was on the roadway, causing the van to spin out of control. As a result, the van went into a skid and flipped over several times.

Reports say that all of the students in the van at the time were taken to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth for examination. Only three students were confirmed to have injuries, ranging from moderate to serious, though nothing life-threatening. The other students were sent home with parents.

Authorities did not indicate any particular factors besides icy conditions that may have contributed to the accident.

No further information has been reported.
