Joe Lester Middleton Dies in Axtell, TX, Single-Vehicle Accident

Axtell, TX -- January 3, 2017, Joe Lester Middleton was killed as the result of an accident in which his pickup went off-road and crashed.

Police investigators indicate that the fatal crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Sutherland Road and TX-31.

66-year-old Middleton was driving a 2008 Chevy pickup southbound on Sutherland at the time. Reports say that his vehicle somehow lost control and swerved off the side of the road. The pickup then crashed head-on into a tree.

Middleton sustained critical injuries in the accident. Emergency services pronounced him deceased at the scene of the crash.

Police did not suggest what possible factors may have contributed to the fatal incident. No further information is available at this time as investigations continue.
