Toddler Hurt in Rockport, TX, Pedestrian Accident on Highway 35

Rockport, TX -- December 27, 2016, a toddler sustained injuries following an accident where a vehicle hit the child along Highway 35 outside a home.

Rockport emergency crews were called to a residence around 9:00 p.m. just off of Highway 35. When they arrived, they found a toddler with serious injuries.

According to their preliminary investigations, the toddler somehow entered the roadway in front of the home. A driver did not see the child in time, and the vehicle hit the child.

EMS transported the boy to a nearby hospital. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Authorities say the mother was also injured when trying to stop the moving vehicle, though details surrounding this weren't elaborated on.

Authorities did not mention any charges or citations related to the accident. The driver reportedly stayed at the scene and rendered aid.

Investigations are ongoing.
