Carl Foster Jr. & Patricia Wright Killed in Accident in Columbus Co., NC

Columbus County, NC -- A two-vehicle collision took the lives of 51-year-old Carl Foster Jr. and Patrica Wright, 52, in Columbus County, NC Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Officials say the pair were headed west on a motorcycle about 5:45 p.m. when the incident took place. It is alleged a pickup truck--hauling a trailer--neglected to stop at a stop sign, crashing into the motorcycle.

Carl Foster Jr. and Patricia Wright both died at the scene of the incident.

The driver of the pickup, 71-year-old Philip Smith, was uninjured in the incident.

The official cause of the crash remained undetermined at the time of the report.

Mr. Smith has since been charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The early media report provided no more information regarding the incident.
