Man in Wheelchair Hurt in Tyler, TX, Accident on Broadway

Tyler, TX -- January 3, 2017, a man in a wheelchair was injured because of an accident that occurred off of South Broadway Avenue where a car hit him.

The accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Austin Bank. The bank is located at 305 South Broadway Avenue.

The man, who was in a motorized wheelchair, was traveling through a parking lot adjacent to the bank. A vehicle was attempting to back out of a parking space and failed to notice the man. The vehicle backed into the wheelchair, knocking it over and sending the man onto the ground.

Emergency services were called to the accident scene. The man was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. It's not clear if any citations were filed in connection with the accident.

No further information has been reported. Investigations are ongoing.
