Tara Jane Wood Killed in New Braunfels, TX, Hit-and-run Accident

New Braunfels, TX -- January 3, 2017, Tara Jane Wood was killed as the result of an accident in which a vehicle hit her on the highway and fled the scene.

Officials from the New Braunfels Police Department report that the fatal incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. near the intersection of I-35 and McQueeney Road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that 35-year-old Wood was attempting cross traffic lanes on foot leading up to the incident. As she did so, a vehicle drove through an crashed into her before leaving the scene, leaving Wood unconscious on the highway.

Emergency services arrived shortly after the accident, and they transported Wood to Resolute Health Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead some time later.

Police investigators have not released any details about the suspect vehicle at this time. Currently, their investigations are ongoing.
