Steve Cox Killed in Accident at 900 N and State Route 217 in La Verkin, UT

La Verkin, UT -- A construction work incident at 900 N and State Route 217 in La Verkin, UT claimed the life of 58-year-old Steve Cox Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

It appears the incident took place at a park near the La Verkin Creek about 2 p.m.

Officials say the unidentified victim was marking the ground to denote utility lines when the deadly incident occurred. The report claims Mr. Cox was run over by a trackhoe, as the driver was unaware the victim was within the industrial vehicle's path. The cause of the incident is unclear, but police say there appears to be no impairment involved. Mr. Cox was killed at the scene of the incident.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
