Janine B. Cook Killed in Cottage Grove, OR Truck Accident
Cottage Grove, OR -- A collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck claimed the life of 57-year-old Janine B. Cook in Cottage Grove, OR Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Sources say Mrs. Cook's southbound vehicle, for reasons unknown, stopped on the roadway about 1 p.m. Within moments, a Freightliner tractor-trailer headed south on the interstate encountered the stopped vehicle. Officials claim the semi was unable to stop in time, colliding with the woman's Chrysler from behind. The force of the collision sent the sedan off the roadway. Mrs. Cook was reportedly killed at the scene of the incident. 26-year-old Nytasha Vatland, the driver of the semi, was uninjured in the crash.
The details of the crash that took Mrs. Cook's life are unclear.
The official investigation is currently underway.
