Beverly Gunnels Dead, 4 Hurt in Milano, TX, Head-on Accident
Milano, TX -- December 30, 2016, Beverly Gunnels was killed, three children and an adult were injured, due to an accident where two vehicles crashed.
Milam County officials reported on the fatal accident which occurred around 6:15 p.m. along US Highway 79.
According to preliminary reports, Gunnels and three children were traveling eastbound on the highway, while another vehicle was traveling westbound. As the two vehicles passed each other, they somehow made contact in a head-on collision. Two other vehicles also crashed after the initial collision.
Due to the crash, Gunnels sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The three children were taken to McClane Children's Scott and White Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle in the head-on collision also had serious injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Hospital. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, police have not said what caused the accident to occur. They say the crash remains under investigation.
