Virginia Beach, VA -- A three-vehicle collision left one person dead and two others hurt about 10:12 a.m. on Princess Anne Road Friday, December 30, 2016.

Sources say a dump truck was backing into a construction site when it stopped in the westbound lane. Within moments, a Ford F-150 traveling in the same lane, crashed into the rear-end of the truck. The initial collision forced the Ford into the inside lane of the westbound lane. The Ford then collided with a Honda CRV, killing a passenger in the Ford. The driver of the Ford and the driver of the Honda were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as "minor." The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.

The early report provided no more information regarding the incident.
