Juan De Dios Cavazos Hinojosa Killed, Perla Elizabeth Arguelles Hurt in Accident in Donna, TX

Donna, TX -- An alleged alcohol related single-vehicle collision claimed the life of 46-year-old Juan De Dios Cavazos Hinojosa and left Perla Elizabeth Arguelles hurt in Donna, TX January 1, 2017.

Officials claim a Chevy Venture containing the deceased victim crashed into a light pole about 8:30 a.m. It appears the vehicle, driven by 39-year-old Perla Elizabeth Arguelles, veered off the roadway in the area of Farm-to-Market 1423 and Eldora Roads. Mr. Cavazos was reportedly killed in the incident. Mrs. Arguelles was reportedly left with non-life threatening injuries in the collision.

The cause of the incident is unclear, but police say they believe alcohol was a factor.

Mrs. Arguelles faces multiple charges related to the incident.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
