According to officials, a 54-year-old man from Opelousas, Louisiana, was in an International semi-truck going northbound approaching the intersection. The Louisiana trucker apparently stopped and yield to an approaching southbound Ford F-350 pulling a trailer. As the Ford was passing, authorities say an eastbound truck disregarded the stop sign, and it crashed into the side of the Ford's trailer. Authorities mentioned there was a second accident after the vehicles involved here came to a stop, but the facts of that crash and how it relates to the initial events weren't explained further.

The Louisiana truck driver and the driver of the eastbound truck, a man from Midland, reportedly had serious injuries after the accident. No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details are unclear.
