Julio Cesar Villareal Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on N. Sunshine Strip in Harlingen, TX

UPDATE (February 16, 2024): The pedestrian who lost his life as a result of this accident has been identified as 48-year-old Julio Cesar Villareal. Recent reports state that the police have a suspect in custody in connection with this incident.

Harlingen, TX — February 11, 2024, a male pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident shortly before 2:00 a.m. along North Sunshine Strip.

According to authorities, the accident took place in the vicinity of the North Sunshine Strip and New Combes Highway intersection.

The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Authorities report that the victim incurred severe injuries which appear to have been caused by him being hit by a motor vehicle. The vehicle allegedly did not stop to render aid of any kind to the victim. The man was declared deceased upon the arrival of emergency personnel.
