Joaquin Mendez Martinez Killed in Car Accident in Harris County, TX

Harris County, TX — January 13, 2024, Joaquin Mendez Martinez was killed following a pedestrian versus vehicle accident at around 9:45 p.m. on Highway 249.

According to initial statements released by authorities, the collision happened on the eastbound lanes of West Mount Houston Road off the intersection of Cordoba Drive.

Officials said that 56-year-old Joaquin Mendez Martinez was on foot when he reportedly attempted to walk across the highway. While doing so, an eastbound GMC Sierra did not avoid Martinez in time, and the vehicle hit Martinez.

Due to the collision, Martinez sustained injuries that proved to be fatal. The driver apparently remained at the scene, and there are no reported charges or citations at this time. Factors surrounding the accident remain unconfirmed pending investigations.
