Danny Gene Leedy Killed in Car Accident in Tyler, TX

Tyler, TX — December 26, 2023, Danny Gene Leedy was fatally injured due to a car accident at around 2:23 p.m. on Old Jacksonville Highway.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened in the area of Old Jacksonville Highway and Harwood Drive.

Officials said that 72-year-old Danny Leedy was in a Hyundai Elantra that was going northbound on Old Jacksonville. Police say that Leedy slowed to make a right turn into a driveway. While doing so, however, a Ford 250 failed to control speed and ran into the back of Leedy's Hyundai.

Due to the collision, Leedy sustained fatal injuries. The other driver did not appear to be hurt. Right now, it appears there was a recommendation for the Ford driver to be cited for failure to control speed. Additional details are not currently available.
