Pedestrian Injured in Car Accident on U.S. 59 in Cass County, TX

Cass County, TX — December 27, 2023, one person was injured in a pedestrian versus car accident at approximately 8:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 59.

According to reports, a 32-year-old man was traveling in a northbound Ford F-150 in the right lane of U.S. 59 at the C.R. 3560 intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that a 40-year-old man was reportedly on foot in the right-hand shoulder loading a vehicle onto a tow truck when, for as yet unconfirmed reasons, the pickup truck struck the pedestrian. Authorities recommend charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to slow down or move over for certain vehicles causing bodily harm against the 32-year-old who had been the sole occupant of the pickup truck.

The pedestrian reportedly sustained suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
