Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Saint Paul in El Paso, TX

El Paso, TX — November 19, 2023, a man sustained fatal injuries as the result of a motorcycle accident at around 4:30 a.m. on Saint Paul.

Authorities said in their statements that the crash happened off the corner of Saint Paul Place and Saint Dominic Drive.

According to current information in the news, a 27-year-old Fort Bliss man was said to be on a motorcycle going southbound along Saint Paul. For reasons unconfirmed right now, the motorcycle ended up crashing into the curb and a rock wall. This threw the rider off of the bike and resulted in fatal injuries. No others were involved, according to current statements.

Right now, authorities allege that speed and alcohol were possible factors in the crash. I certainly wouldn't be able to say that's true without further evidence. Is it possible? Of course, especially this early in the morning. In many of the hundreds of wrongful death cases I've handled against bars, restaurants, and other alcohol providers, the victims died not long after closing time. The same could prove true here, as well.

At the same time, I've also learned over the years how cautious to be reading anything about a motorcycle accident. Frankly, a lot of people are quick to blame the riders, and even authorities can be too quick to throw blame on a motorcyclist before they really know the whole story.

So as important as I would say it is to investigate things like unsafe speeds of a local bar possibly over-serving the victim, I'd also put equal weight on giving the victim the benefit of the doubt until more information comes to light. Regardless of what happened here, I think any reasonable person would agree it's best to avoid jumping to conclusions and let the evidence speak for itself.
