2 Injured in Truck Accident on I.H. 45 in Rice, TX

Rice, TX — November 3, 2023, two people were injured in a truck accident around 2:45 in the afternoon along Interstate Highway 45.

According to reports, a 56-year-old man was traveling in a southbound Toyota Sienna minivan in the right-hand lane of I.H. 45 approaching the Calhoun Street bridge when the incident occurred.

An 18-wheeler was traveling southbound in the center lane of I.H. 45 at the same time. For unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided, causing both to veer to the right and off of the roadway. The trailer which was in tow behind the 18-wheeler became detached from the cab and overturned, blocking both the center and right lane of the interstate. The cab of the 18-wheeler and the minivan came to rest on the right hand shoulder. The 56-year-old and the driver of the 18-wheeler both incurred injuries as a result of the accident; they were transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive treatment.

Th cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the accident were reportedly cloudy and dry. There are not currently and additional details available concerning this incident.
