Luis Rivas Velasco, Bryce Thomas Wooten Injured in Car Accident in Fort Worth, TX

According to officials, 20-year-old Luis Rivas Velasco was in a Cadillac ATS reportedly going southbound along Amon Carter. While crossing the Airport Freeway, it appears the Cadillac and an eastbound Mini Cooper driven by 20-year-old Bryce Wooten collided. Both Wooten and Rivas Velasco had incapacitating injuries.

While details can't be confirmed right now, authorities said that the Cadillac went through a red light, but they also say the vehicle may have had defective or no brakes. What exactly is it they saw that led them to include that possibility? And if it's true, was it the result of worn brakes that needed to be replaced, or was there some kind of manufacturing issue? That's not the sort of thing authorities would include in a typical preliminary statement, so there could be a lot more to this story the public has yet to see.
