Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-run Accident on Port Avenue in Corpus Christi, TX

Corpus Christi, TX — August 5. 2023, a bicyclist was killed due to an apparent hit and run accident at around midnight on South Port Avenue.

Investigators said in their statements that the crash happened at approximately 12:23 a.m. at the intersection of Port Avenue and Nimitz Street.

According to officials, a 47-year-old man was cyclist southbound along Port Avenue at the time when a vehicle hit the rider from behind. That vehicle then allegedly left the scene. The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries due to the collision.

Right now, authorities described the runaway vehicle as a silver 2012 Kia Sportage. It's unclear if they ever identified the driver, but no charges have been reported right now.
