Desiree Marie Estrada Killed in Pedestrian Accident in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio, TX — August 31, 2023, Desiree Marie Estrada was killed as the result of a car accident at around 2:30 a.m. along Culebra Road.

Investigators said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred near the intersection of Culebra Road and Dolores Avenue.

Desiree Marie Estrada Killed in Pedestrian Accident in San Antonio, TX

According to officials, 26-year-old Desiree Marie Estrada was on foot at the time and at some point was in the eastbound lanes of Culebra. A driver reportedly "did not see" Estrada, striking her in the roadway. As a result, Estrada sustained fatal injuries.

Authorities did not specify an exact cause for the crash nor did they report any charges or citations. However, they did suggest that the driver being inattentive was contributing factor here. The question, then, is what the driver's attention was on if not the roadway.

Were authorities able to pull cell phone records? Did they determine if the driver was distracted by something in the vehicle? There just isn't enough information in these statements for me to feel confident that authorities are telling the whole story.
