Katy Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident on U.S. 290 in Harris County, TX

Harris County, TX — October 22, 2023, a Katy man was killed as the result of a single-vehicle accident just after midnight along the Northwest Freeway.

Authorities said after preliminary investigations that the crash occurred along the westbound lanes of the freeway service road in the area of the Mueschke Road intersection.

According to officials, a 20-year-old Katy man was in a Ford Mustang going along the highway. The vehicle reportedly went around another vehicle ahead of it to avoid a collision, but the Mustang lost control and crashed into a retaining wall. Due to this, the driver of the Mustang sustained fatal injuries.

Authorities did not report any other injuries. They do not say contact was made with any other vehicles, but there was indication that at least one vehicle may have been racing leading up to the collision. Additional details are unavailable right now.
