Shemikia Brown, 3 Killed, 1 Injured in Car Accident in Polk County, TX

Polk County, TX — November 9, 2023, Shemikia Brown and three children were killed and one child was injured at about 10 p.m. along Hwy. 146.

According to authorities, Shemikia Brown and her four passengers were traveling in a southbound Buick on Highway 146 just southeast of Livingston when the incident occurred.

For unknown reasons, a northbound GMC pickup truck veered out of the northbound lane and into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with the Buick. Brown and three of the four children were declared dead at the scene. The surviving child was transported to a local hospital by emergency medical services for immediate treatment of injuries incurred during the accident. No other injuries were reported in connection with this accident.

The cause of the accident has not been confirmed. Weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the accident were reportedly rainy and wet. The incident is still under active investigation by authorities; no additional details are currently available.
