Belton, TX — October 28, 2023, Damian Edward Stevens was injured following a single-vehicle accident at around 8:00 p.m. along Interstate 35.

Officials said in their initial statements on the crash that it happened on northbound lanes at the I-14 interchange.

Authorities said that 48-year-old Damian Stevens was in a Honda Accord traveling on the interstate when the vehicle somehow ran off the side of the roadway. This led to the vehicle crashing into a support column underneath I-14. Stevens was said to have incapacitating injuries due to the crash.

Authorities mentioned looking into alcohol, though nothing has been confirmed right now. This crash reportedly happened a bit earlier than one would typically think for an alcohol-related accident, so I'm a bit skeptical while details remain scarce.

That said, I've had plenty of personal injury cases against bars and restaurants who illegally over-served my clients early in the afternoon, early evening, and even brunch hours. Maybe nothing like that happened here, and maybe alcohol wasn't even a factor. My hope after any serious crash is simply that authorities and folks in the public avoid jumping to conclusions and let the facts speak for themselves.
