Montrell Benniefield, 1 Injured in Car Accident in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX — October 28, 2023, Montrell Benniefield and one other were injured following a car accident at around 3:00 a.m. along the LBJ Freeway.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred along the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Royal Lane.

According to officials, 30-year-old Montrell Benniefield was in a Ford Mustang that became disabled along the freeway, reportedly with hazard lights activated. While there, it appears an Infiniti crashed into Benniefield's vehicle.

Benniefield reportedly had incapacitating injuries as a result of the collision while the Infiniti driver's injuries were said to be non-incapacitating. While details can't be confirmed right now, authorities allege that the Infiniti driver was under the influence of alcohol.

To be blunt, at 3:00 a.m. on a Saturday, you could practically flip a coin to figure out whether or not a crash involved alcohol. It's just about the peak time for drunk driving as folks try to go home from local bars. Right now, I don't see authorities mention anything about a bar, but I'd be pretty surprised if there weren't one involved.

A good chunk of the hundreds of personal injury cases I've handled against alcohol providers were businesses that send customers home at the end of the night after recklessly over-serving them right up until the finish line. Unfortunately, authorities don't usually take notice of their actions until someone like me brings the behavior to their attention. That's one of the reasons I talk about the issue of negligent alcohol providers so much on this blog. The more people in the public that know about, the more often they'll ask the authorities, "Are you looking into where the driver got their alcohol?"
