1 Killed in Truck Accident on U.S. 83 in Walworth County, SD

Walworth County, SD — November 2, 2023, one person was killed in a truck accident just before 1:30 in the afternoon along U.S. Highway 83.

According to reports, a 56-year-old man was traveling a northbound Ford F-250 about 10 miles south of Selby when the accident occurred.

For unknown reasons, the Ford was involved in a head-on collision with a southbound 18-wheeler. The 56-year-old—whose identity has not been released to the public—reportedly incurred severe injuries as a result of the collision; he succumbed to those injuries and was declared dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

The causal factors in this accident are under investigation by authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time of the incident were not reported on. There are not currently any additional details available.
