Harris County, TX — October 27, 2023, Gilianne Bijoux and Ruth Hernandez were injured following a car accident that happened around 5:51 a.m. on F.M. 2920.

Authorities said in preliminary statements on the crash that it occurred at the intersection of F.M. 2920 and Threichel Road.

Investigators said in their statements that 44-year-old Gilianne Bijoux was in a Land Rover going eastbound ahead of a Honda Accord also going eastbound. 45-year-old Ruth Hernandez was said to be a passenger in a Chevy Traverse going westbound along the center turn lane. The driver of the Chevy allegedly entered eastbound lanes, resulting in a collision with both Bijoux's vehicle and the Honda.

Due to the collision, Ruth Hernandez sustained injuries described as incapacitating. Bijoux's injuries were apparently non-incapacitating. There were no other confirmed injuries. Authorities allege that the driver of the Chevy had been drinking and mentioned potential DWI charges. However, they did not say if they looked into where the alleged alcohol came from.

Generally speaking, my experience suing alcohol providers in Harris County has shown me that authorities down there tend to be on the ball when it comes to seeking out negligent establishments after an alcohol-related crash. But even they can miss something here and there, which makes me wonder if these preliminary statements are just a piece of the larger picture or if there's still more to this story that needs to be addressed.
